Director Garry Clarkson leads the course, Investigating Place with Psychogeography in association with the Open College of the Arts (Open University) on-line. Using his Return to Wigan Pier project as a guide to map the contemporary state of the north of England against George Orwell’s original 1936 survey. Exploring current identity of England's working class culture, customs and habits to show places such as Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool and Wigan re-framed since Orwell’s depiction.

This course fosters dialogue in a supportive learning environment with students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
